Safari

We were 23 exchange students on the safari. It was all the people I've known since i got here and an american girl that came from down Melbourne. We all knew each other from before, but we still managed to make new friends among us or improve the friendships we already had. It was people I hadn't hung out with before that I now became really close with

Safari 2

So the safari was a trip around Australia, or rather a small part. Something that I've learnt during this year is that this country is quite big.. rather huge. 

We started by flying up to the gold coast and from there travel by bus. Went to Cairns, Alice Springs, Uluru, Great Ocean road, Melbourne and allot more. It really was a trip of a lifetime and I miss it so much now when  it's over. The worst thing was the realization after. that it's not long till i will be sitting on a plain back home now and this amazing year will come to an end. A year turned into months, months into weeks and soon it will be days. Where did all that time go?? 

Eater show!

Every year during Easter time it's a big festival-like event in Sydney, called the Easter show(because it's always on during Easter). The correct name for the event would probably be 'Agriculture show' tho, when the theme is 'country coming to the city'.

You can go and see different animals, Wood chopping competition , rodeo, cars, rides, lots of different food, dog shows etc
It's a big family event and I could hardly get through because of all the people. Talking about all the people, I realized that i never will take a trolley to one of these events.. seriously I don't know how many trolleys that ran into me during the day.. So people LEAVE YOUR TROLLEY AT HOME! please.

I went with Stina, Jessie, Tiarna and Jenny. It was such a fun day! a bit strange but fun! If anyone has the opportunity to go, I would recommend the rodeo and ofc the wood chopping competition!

Boat ride to Central Coast

Ifall man åker upp till änden av Norther Beaches kommer man till Palm Beach. Det är i stort sätt vart de rika människorna har sina sommarstugor, men har under de senare åren kommit att bli mer till en permanent bosdad för många.
Ifall man står och kollar ut från den nordligaste delen så ser man på andra sidan vattnet Central Coast. det ända som skiljer är en "kanal" med vatten.

Så istället för att ta den långa bilturen upp, tog jag och min värdfamilj färjan över.
Det var så vackert! Jag skulle kunna titta på havet och naturen hela dagen ut! Hur klipporna är formade och de olika "headlands" som skilljer stränderna åt. Det är verkligen magiskt!

Me and my host family took a day trip to central coast. I normally go up by boat, but this time we took the ferry from Palm Beach.

Conference part 3

Saturday ended with a big dress up dinner. All Rotary clubs had dressed up in different costumes. The theme was 'A nigh at the museum' (the movie).

My club went as some Egypt/Rome theme. It was probably the highlight of the conference!

Who knew Rotary people could get so into things. (sure a bit to much alcohol probably helped)...

Bjorn and Paul (first picture) came up with their costume in the last minute.. bed sheet and a belt.. 

The whole thing was at a war plain museum. It was a quite spectacular. 

In the end it was allot of speeches and the whole thing was directed to Rotarians, which made the night a bit slow for young people ^^

Conference Part 2

So we had some events during the weekend. first at Saturday morning we had to go out on the stage and present out flag. The rest of the students had rehearsed for this the day before (when I wasn't there). But as we where waiting to go on stage they changed it all. I was quite happy about that.. haha 

After that we just hanged out and tried to kill some time. 

 

Conference

Friday was a short day in school for me. I left at lunch to get picket up by Colin and Gai and then drive down to Nowra that is about 2 and a half hour south of Sydney. The trip down took much longer. We managed to get stuck in traffic during peak hour and get every single red light! so after 4 hours we finally arrived. Then also about 3 hours late.
We had to silently walk into the room where everyone were already enjoying their dinner. I couldn't just sit at my table tho (wanted to talk to all the exchange students), so ran around and said hello to everyone instead ^^

So what was this conference for? well it was for my Rotary district. Just a bunch of information and guest speakers. 

Honestly it was such a boring weekend! They basically had nothing planed for us exchange student and we spent 12 hours lying in the grass outside the conference building, waiting for it to be over.  

Umina Weekend

Friday afternoon the exchange student and I went up to the central coast to a town called Umina. It is about 1 hour north of central Sydney. We where to spend the entire weekend with the club, that had prepared different activities for us. My stay was cut short when I had to go back on Saturday for Soundwave the following day.

The Umina Rotary club is apparently hosting this event every year for the exchange student in my district. We where all given a family to stay with, that would act as our host family for our stay. I came with a lovely couple that took well care of me.

We where taken on a boat trip early Saturday and continued to the reptailpark, Umina surfclub and finally a bushdance  The weather destroyed the weekend a bit. It was poring down the entire day

In the end the best of the weekend was just spending time with the other exchange students! Now I'm even more exited for the safari (trip around Australia) in May

Even sydney has rainy days

after a busy weekend am I completely exhausted. Head, feat, stomach  arms every part of me is screaming for some sleep. But my brain keeps insisting that it's not time to relax yet. So with music in my ears am I sitting and fixing with photos from the days that have passed.
It is funny how you can be so tired that you cant do more then just sit at home and do nothing, but at the same time you just want to run out and explore..

Umina beach

So what have I been up to?! Well after two days up the coast at an exchange student event, that got an early end Saturday night, did I get up early on Sunday for a whole day of Soundwave ( music festival). And I just have to say it was bloody AWESOME!

Swimming Carnival

Ingen vanlig skoldag idag, utan istället begav sig en del av skolan sig till Manly (en del av Sydeny) för Cromers årliga simtävlng.  Jag som fortfarande är slut, packade ner mina somsaker, näsdukar,en bunt panodil och hallstabletter i väskan och snart var jag ready to go!

Det var inte så många som deltog i mitt år och de som var där gjorde det mest på skoj. Istället för att hoppa i vattnet och simma som vilken annan tävling kom de med de mest kreativa idéerna och kläder.
En av mina favoriter var nog en kille i mitt år som dök upp i leopard färgade leggins och en hästmask att simma i.

Men ska jag vara ärlig var jag rätt besviken på hela grejen. Ifall jag bortser från killarna underhållning i vattnet, var jag mestadels ganska uttråkad. Det saknades laganda och alla bara satt ner med sina telefoner. 

Det är en rätt så stor skillnad har jag märkt från vad jag upplevt från hemma i Sverige, Mycket mer skitsnack och bitching är på en helt annan nivå. 

Day trip to Eastern Suburbs!

I lördags åkte jag och hela mi familia till The Eastern suburbs för att äta lunch och  introducera mig för Tobi och Antons partners. Vi åkte till en Kina resturan som hade ett liten annorlunda system än vad jag är van vid. nämligen Yum Cha. Vilket är när olika servitörer går runt med olika små maträtter och så tarm an vad man vill ha och får det stämplat på en liten lapp som ligger på bordet.
Det var ett roligt och nytt sätt för mig att ät på, men jag blev rätt stressad då servitörerna kom och försökte tvinga på en mat.

Efter våran "lilla" lunch åkte vi till ett kaffe som låg närmare stranden 'The Spot'. Isabella berättade att det fanns några olika platser som alla visste om och 'The Spot' var en av dem. Det var ett gulligt litet kaffe som hade söta små bakverk.

Efter fikat tog vi en liten promenad ner till Coogee Beach, som ligger ca 3 stränder nedanför Bondi.

 Efter min lilla tripp till the Eastern suburbs får jag nog ändå säga att

New Family!

Som jag nämnde förrut är jag nu i min fjärde värdfamilj och än så länge går allt fint fint! 

Min nya familj består av min värdpappa Frank, värdmamma Isabella, Toni och Anton som är den "yngsta" i familjen. Anton har också varit utbytesstuden, och gissa vart han blev placerad?? Jo nämligen söderköping. Så vi har haft några kvällar framför TVn tittande på Sällskapsresan. 

Både Isabella och Frank har Italienskt ursprung, vilket gör att jag får två kulturer i ett! Jätte bra enligt mig när Isabella nog lagar bland den bästa maten jag någonsin ätit! haha

BBQ

Yesterday I had Rotary again, but it wasent a normal meeting. We gathered outside (it was still stinking hot) and had a BBQ! Or not really a bbq.. The bbq didn't work so they went and bought some chicken instead. 

I don't know if it was the warm weather or the alcohol, but people where really enjoying themselves..

It was dancing, jokes and allot of mingle. 

I had a good night, but most of al I just wanted to jump in the water to cool down. ;)

Clowner är nog inte riktigt min grej.. men vem bryr sig. 

Idag åkte jag för första gången till Luna Park! Det är den enda Amusementpar i Sydney och ligger precis bakom Harbourbridge. 

 

Det fanns alla slags attraktioner. Bergodalbana, Snurrsaker, Clowner, dansare och massa mer snurrsaker. Jag har aldrig varit jätte bra då det kommer till snurrsaker och med en förkylning i kroppen blev det inte bättre. Så efter två åk kände jag hur det snurrade i huvudet och jag drog mig mer till alla de olika spelen som fanns att välja mellan. 

Jag kan stolt säga att brevis mig just nu ligger en stor fyrkantig kuddtärning som jag med mina awesome basketboll skills lyckades vinna. Annars så samlade jag på mig x-antal gossedjur då vi plöjde genom de olika spelen.
